What AppSumo is
A marketplace for software deals. Tools are offered at a discount, often as a one-time lifetime licence instead of a subscription, across productivity, marketing, content, operations and AI.
Reviews and curated lists help filter what is worth a look, and a refund window reduces the cost of a wrong purchase.
What you can do with it
- Buy software outright instead of subscribing monthly
- Browse new productivity, marketing, content and AI tools in one place
- Read reviews before committing
- Assemble a tool stack for a small team on a limited budget
Who it is for
- Entrepreneurs, small team leads and independent developers
- Marketers and heavy tool users
- Anyone looking for a cheaper alternative to a current subscription
What to watch out for
- Lifetime deals depend on the vendor surviving; check who builds the tool and how long it has been around
- Refund windows are time-limited, so test within the window rather than after
- Deals rotate, so waiting can mean missing a tool
- A cheap licence still means another tool to maintain and integrate
